The Golden Ratio and Feng Shui

Article Search Engine: GoArticles.com: "The golden ratio and feng shui by Jakob Jelling

The golden ratio is a very important concept in feng shui due to the way it implies aspects of balance and perfection of shapes. Feng shui is based on the search for harmony between the human beings and the environment in which they are. Feng shui is always looking for balancing the elements and objects which surround living beings and compose their environments.

The environments in which the human being lives often tend to become unbalanced and loose its natural harmony due to the way in which he modifies it and adds artificial elements to it. Feng shui provides the guidelines and knowledge necessary to reestablish the natural balance which human beings as well as all living beings need to surround them and the golden ratio is a constant always present in this natural balance.

The environment in which the human being lives is made of natural elements and shapes. The golden ratio is a rule that can be often found in many elements of the nature as well as in artificial objects made by man. This way, it can help achieving the desired harmony by being used along with feng shui balancing elements and objects.

The golden ratio is a numeric value which was discovered by Euclid and shows a mathematical relationship which appears as a constant. The golden ratio is often known as the phi number is necessary in order to calculate many different mathematical shapes and geometrical related elements.

Architects who have a formation on feng shui and follow its guidelines at the time of designing their buildings, often use the golden ratio as an important tool in order to achieve such goal. It can be used in architectural elements such as columns, pillars, overtures and windows as well as in the general design of the building.

Besides its architectural applications, the golden ratio is also employed by feng shui experts through the use of objects such as vases, flower pots, fountains, coins, candles, wind chimes, and many other symbolic ornaments which would balance to an environment. Often, we would not even realize the ways in which this mathematical element is present around us and in the nature by appearing through natural formations, flowers, plants, and even living beings.

Do you always see things from a negative perspective? Do not worry! You do not have to be a pessimist for the rest of your life. You have the power to turn your life around. I know you maybe thinking Kenia why would I want to change myself?

The problem with negative thinking is that you are always going to be stuck on the wrong side. What I mean is that whenever you have a dream or illusion you will ONLY foresee a negative outcome and stop before even trying. In return you are going to end up as an unsuccessful and worst unfulfilled person. Not a desirable outcome at all!

So, here are some tips that can help you change your overall outlook on life. No, they are not Feng Shui or Buddhism although some of the tips may seem similar. These are some behaviors that I have employed in my life and so far have worked. Yes! I am a pessimist anonymous in recovery but, fortunately I have learned that life can be much better. Here are some hints that can help you turn your life around:

Inspirational Content: I am a junkie for inspirational material. When ever I feel a little on the other side I search for inspirational articles or read books that I may have around.

A Thank You Journal: Everyday I write what I am thankful for. It is not long at all. I would be surprise if I write more than four lines. But, I believe it does wonders. Make sure you resist the temptation to complaint.

Take time to rest and do things you enjoy.

Cite Positive affirmations.

Take care of yourself. Eat healthy, exercise and drink plenty of water. This will not only help you look better but, you will have more energy and feel great.

Maintain your home clean: Notice how different you feel in a clean environment versus a cluttered or messy place.

Visualize and write down goals: As often as possible. This will help you materialize your dreams and keep them in mind.

Good luck,

New Straits Times - Malaysia News Online

New Straits Times - Malaysia News Online: "‘Feng shui’ master at 28

At 28, he is already a notable feng shui master. Joey Yap tells TAN CHOE CHOE why he chucked his account ledgers for a luo pan and how to spot a bogus feng shui master.

WHEN someone pointed out a lanky young man to me recently as a feng shui master, my immediate reaction was, understandably, one of disbelief.

In all honesty, I had expected someone in his 70s or, optimistically, 60s, with a white beard on his wobbly chin. Yes, I was looking for a Gandalf-the-White look-a-like, albeit the Oriental version.

"Just call me Joey," Joey Yap, 28, said firmly while I dithered over the "master" title or dai-si (a term used to address a feng shui guru).

Well, Joey, as he calls himself, is not your typical feng shui master. He is actually a commerce graduate from Curtin University in Australia, but since graduation, has abandoned accounting for "wind and water".

"It’s my childhood interest. I’ve been interested in Chinese metaphysics since I was 10, when I met my first feng shui master who came to do an audit on my home.

"From then on, I just went around learning Chinese astrology and other forms of Chinese metaphysics, like mian xiang (physiognomy) and ba zi (destiny) on my own," he said.

Joey’s enthusiasm even helped him overcome the language barrier because, like many today who studied in national schools, he was not well-versed with Chinese characters.

"It was hard because there were no comprehensive English books on feng shui but I was just too curious about feng shui to let it slip from me just because I couldn’t read Chinese characters, so I taught myself to master the language," he said."

Amazing!

Make Your (Home) Office Reflect You

Feng Shui Guide: "Make Your (Home) Office Reflect You by Maria Marsala

If you're reading this, then you are spending quite a bit of time in
a room or corner of your home you call 'my home office'. The 'feel'
of this area is so important to your creativity - not to mention your
sanity! Below are some questions your office has been meaning to ask
you! Use these questions to get your home office into tip-top shape
and make it a room in which you really enjoy spending your time.

Do I smell great to you?
Think about buying some candles, incense, essential oils or an
aromatherapy lamp. Don't forget to open the windows every now and
again, too!

How private am I?
If you don't have any privacy, find a way to create some. Even if
your office is a corner area, there ARE ways to make it private.

How do I feel?
Cozy, open, bright, warm, full... whatever feels good to you, make
your office feel that way, too.

Where are your personal items?
Many years ago, it was not 'professional' to have family pictures on
your desk. Now that you own your office, you can do what you like!

How is my wall treatment?
If your office needs repainting or new wallpaper, set aside the money
and time to get it done. Consider hanging pictures or posters you
enjoy.

Is my desk arranged to promote your brilliance and creativity?
If you can sit at your desk and see out the window or into the rest
of the house, do it!

How do my windows look?
Clean curtains, shades, and windows add to the feel of any room,
including your office.

Have you cleaned out my files and desk in the past year?
Make room for "the new" by cleaning out "the old". Throw away
paperwork when you know you'll find current information on the
Internet or at the library.

Where is my supply cabinet or closet?
The closer these items are to your office, the fewer the number of
items on your "to complete" list.

Am I organized to your liking?
If not, visit www.coachmaria.com/businessbooks.html#organizing for a
list of organizing, Feng Shui, and clutter control books.
